Samantha MacAdam

Armed with a decade of experience in commercial directing and film editing, Samantha is an award-winning filmmaker recently chosen for the Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices Initiative. Her first writing credit came when she won the story writing competition for the animated feature film franchise “The Nut Job”, that stars Will Arnett. Samantha’s directorial debut “Prom Night”, that stars comedian Gerry Dee, premiered at “Just for Laughs”, and gained cross-border success in Kevin Hart’s “LOL Network” development deal competition, the short was a top-five finalist beating out 650 films. Samantha also wrote, edited and filmed the short at her house while on maternity leave. “Prom Night” the feature script is a semi-finalist in “ScreenCraft’s Comedy Screenplay Competition”. One of the selected writers for the “2020 Writing Room at Prime Time”, Samanta was taught the ABCs of pitching from producer/director Jennifer Morrison (Euphoria), Samantha says of her stories: “While movies and television in the 90’s saved me in many ways, it also did a lot of damage to me. No leading ladies on screen looked like me and so I always felt less than, my mission with my projects is to entertain and empower. I want people to see themselves, so they can be inspired to be the leads in their own stories”.
